State Solo/Ensembles

State Solo/Ensembles will be held on the campus of Andover Central HS on April 27. We will depart CUHS at 10:00 AM on April 26. We will be staying at the Hampton Inn East in Wichita. You will need to have money for lunch, dinner on Friday and lunch/dinner on Saturday. Make sure you have your black concert attire for your performance on Saturday. Regional Festival @PSU

Regional Festival is Saturday, April 6 at PSU. We will depart CUHS at 7:00 AM. You will need to arrive 10 minutes before to load. You should wear black concert attire for your events. You may want to bring clothes to change depending on when you perform. If you are riding home with parents, you will need to check out first with us. All events are in Grubbs Hall. Carthage Festival

JH students will be called out of class at 9:00 AM to come to band room. You will then change into your uniform before we load the bus. We perform in the Carthage 6 Grade Building at 11:15 AM. After we perform we you can change out of your uniform. Please wear a t-shirt and shorts under uniform to make changing quick and easy. We will then transport to the mall in Joplin for lunch. You will need to bring money for fast food lunch in the food court at the mall. We will be back at school by 3:00 PM.

CNC Festival is at Columbus. We play at 8:00 AM on the stage. Please be in your seat no later than 7:30 AM to warm-up and tune. Come dressed in black concert attire. We will be done at 8:30 and you are free to go.

The 6 Grade Band members and 7/8 Grade Band members will perform in concert at 7:00 PM in the CUHS auditorium. Students should arrive at 6:45 to worm up and tune before the concert. 6 Grade band members should wear nice clothes—no shorts or sweat pants or hats allowed. JH Band members will wear their uniforms with black vest. Students should stay to listen to both groups perform.

Titan Jazz Band will perform at 9:00 AM at Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg, Ks. Students should arrive dressed in classic black concert attire. We will load at 7:15 and pull out by 7:30 AM. Please be on time & bring $$ for lunch. You may bring clothes to change into after the performance.

KMEA Convention

KMEA is February 22—24. Please note you will be responsible for all meals on this trip. Breakfast will be provided at the hotel each morning & you will need money for 3 fast food lunches and two nice dinners. Dress for the trip will be business casual. You may wear jeans, but they need to be nice—wear a nice sweater or shirt and nice shoes. Every important person in the state from the music industry will be at this convention—connections are being made—therefore, look and present yourself professional in your dress & demeanor.

Ms. Lovell & Ms. Phillips both have duties at this convention. You will be expected to conduct yourselves in a professional manner and be on time. State Band Auditions

State Band auditions are in Salina at Salina-Lakewood Middle School. We will depart CUHS at 10:00 this Friday, 1/12. You will need money for one nice meal and three fast food meals. We will be staying at the Hampton Inn, 401 W Shilling Road. Casual clothes is all you need, but remember not too casual for your audition. Please don’t wear sweats, shorts, or really ratty clothes for the audition. You represent our school and department and you will have a better audition if you look nice. Nice jeans, sweaters, etc would be appropriate. At 9:00 AM the audition excerpts will be posted outside of your audition room. Auditions officially start at 10:00 AM. Refer to the checklist below.

Central Christmas

4/5 Grade program will be at 6:00 PM. Students should arrive at 5:45 and be seated in their assigned seat in the front section of the auditorium. Please do not arrive earlier than the designated time.

6/7/8 Grades will be at 7:00 PM. Students should arrive at 6:40. 6 Grade band members should wear nice clothes--no jeans with holes, shorts, worn out shoes or hats. JH Band will wear their full uniforms with the black vest.

Branson Christmas Parade

Arrive at the band room to begin loading at 11:15 AM. We will pull out at 11:30. We will arrive in Branson at 2:30 and go to Tanger Outlet mall for shopping prior to the parade. Students can change into uniforms at the outlet mall and/or get something fast to eat. Parade is in the old town Branson and step off is 5:30 PM. After the parade we will eat dinner at Lambert’s—plan on $15-$20. We will arrive back at CUHS around 11:00 PM.

Students will rehearse and perform in concert with the SE KMEA District Honor Band. Wear casual school clothes for the day. You will need concert attire for the evening concert at 4:30 PM. Standard black attire is appropriate. We will cater your lunch that day. Parents and friends are invited to the concert that late afternoon.

Columbus Christmas Parade

JH and CUHS Bands will march together in the Columbus Christmas parade. Students will wear full uniforms and gloves. Students will also need a Santa hat for the event. You may also decorate your instruments. Prizes will be given for best decorated and best santa hat. Students should arrive in the band room ready to warm up by 6:30 PM. Parade starts at 7:00 PM.

Veteran's Day Assembly

Students should arrive dressed in dress clothes and in seat on stage by 8:00 AM. Roll will be taken & grades given for dress & being on time. The event begins at 8:45. We will rehearse first and then you will have a few minutes to get up & stretch. Be back in your seat on stage by 8:35. After the assembly you may change your clothes.

What to wear?

Ladies—dresses/skirts (knee length) and/or slacks with nice top. Wear hose & nice shoes

Men—dress slacks, button up shirt and tie, nice dress shoes and socks

DO NOT wear—tennis shoes, vans, or hey dudes—they are NOT dress shoes. NO boots, shorts, rompers, or leggings.

Districts Auditions

District Auditions is Saturday, Nov. 4 at Pittsburg HS. We will depart CUHS at 7:30 AM. Auditions begin at 9:00 AM. Please dress nice—NO sweat pants, shorts, jeans with holes, etc. You will play better if you look nice and you are representing our school. There will be concessions there. We are not stopping for lunch. Auditions will be over at 1:00 PM. We should arrive back at CUHS no later than 3:00 PM.

Neewollah

JH Band will travel to the Neewollah Kiddie Parade on Friday, October 27. Students should arrived DRESSED IN FULL UNIFORM by 1:45 PM to load. We will pull out at 2:00 PM. The parade starts at 4:00 PM in Independence—parents are invited to attend. After the parade, we will change clothes and eat dinner in Independence (fast food). Bring money for your dinner. We we return to CUHS we will put away equipment and then have a hay ride out to Holmes for camp fire, s’mores and spooky trail. Students should wear appropriate clothing for a hay ride—NO shorts. See timeline below.

1:45 - Arrive at CUHS & Load buses

2:00 - Depart CUHS—be on time, I will NOT wait

4:00 - Parade step-off

4:45 - Change clothes & enjoy the Neewollah Festival

6:30 - Depart Independence

7:30 - Arrive at CUHS, unload equip and board trailers for Hay ride

Columbus Day Parade

JH and CUHS Band will march this parade. The official parade step off is 9:40 AM, students should arrive at the band room at 8:30 AM. The band room will NOT be open until this time. All students in both bands will wear full uniform. JH will wear the red vest. Students should NOT wear jeans under the uniform trousers. A trailer will be available at the end of the route for sousaphones and percussion equipment. All other band members should meet back in the band room and store equipment properly before departing for your day.

Homecoming Football Game

We will wear full uniform for this game. Performance will be “God Bless the USA”. Please meet no later than 6:00 PM to change into uniform. We will walk out at 6:30 and stand on the wall in order to observe the Homecoming Coronation Ceremony. Therefore, it is pertinent that you arrive on time. We will warm up at 6:20 before walking out.

Jazz Gig

We will be playing for the SE County Officials meeting at the State Theatre. Please wear nice jeans and your band t shirt. We play at 11:30 for 20 minutes. Then we will eat at the State Theatre. You will be dismissed from class at 10:30 AM to load the bus and we will return by 1:00 PM. Thanks in advance for you service to our community!

Performance time is 10:00 AM in Hutchinson. We will stop in Augusta for breakfast at McDonald’s—bring money for lunch and dinner as well. We have coupons for a $7 lunch—pizza/jaffle sandwich and 32 oz drink. You will not have an admission into the fair. We will wear the band t-shirt, band hat, black dinkles and nice jeans for the parade. You can bring shorts or other clothes to wear for after the parade. Meet the Titans

This is a required performance. Call time is 5:30 PM in the band room—meet to warm up and tune. Wear your sports shirt or a band t shirt. The new shirts aren’t in yet, so wear one from last year. If you don’t have one, see us. We will open with the National Anthem followed by the Fight Song. After we play, you will be introduced by class. Once you are introduced you are free to go or wait till you are introduced with another team.

Beginning Band Camp

There will be a 2 week quick start camp for those that can attend on May 22 through June 2 at the CUHS Band Room. Students will be divided by instrument section. This is for those that can attend. If you cannot attend, your student can still join the band. Come the days that you can. Cost is $40 for the 2 weeks (that is $20 per week). Note we will not meet on May 29 in observance of Memorial Day.

CUHS Graduation

Band members should arrive no later than 4:15 PM. Please take your own music stand and instrument to the gym. Students should wear nice and tasteful dress clothes. Please avoid sneakers, shorts and/or short skirts. Senior band members should appoint a band member to take their instrument over. Music will be turned in to your section leader at the end of the ceremony. Please make sure all instruments and music stands are returned to the band room afterwards. Have a great summer!
